Pictured: A photo of 15-year-old me from my Junior High Yearbook. Next to me trying my hand at plein air painting about 20 years ago. And here I am on the right in my new art studio. While my name was not spelled correctly back in 1975, my dream of being a full-time artist was never wrong!
Welcome, friends, collectors, art lovers, and fellow artists and creatives!
I am over the moon to be on this artistic journey, as I’m realizing my lifelong goal of being a full-time painter. I now have a working studio in downtown Asheville in a lively community, Resurrection Studios Collective. I am also exhibiting my work there, with new shows monthly. Recently, I was selected for a curated show on Hurricane Helene Resilience by ArtPlay. This comes on the heels of having one of my paintings recently on display as part of the at Asheville Strong exhibit at the Asheville Art Museum. Through a variety of workshops, I am also teaching others how to create and paint. Just pinch me—my life is now surrounded by all things art, and fabulous, amazing fellow artists!
I invite you to join along as I now launch my website, Alison Press Art! Here you will see works for sale from across my diverse portfolio. You will learn about events I am participating in and hear about workshops I am leading. I will use this blog to share my experiences, journey, and thoughts on art itself. So, for now, take a look, follow me on socials, visit me at my art studio or exhibitions, and check back in here often, as I’m busy painting nearly every day… and that means lots of new art to share.
